As a language arts teacher, I'm always interested in learning more about reading and writing. I've always loved these subjects but teaching them has definitely ignited a new passion in me. I love teaching children to express themselves creatively through writing and teaching children to have a love for reading is something that doesn't happen as often as it should. That being said, I'm always open to learning more about how I can improve my students' experience in these subjects.
Our district requires teachers to participate in extensive dyslexia training. Since I've participated in modules which help us to understand just what these students go through each day, I have a newfound curiosity in this area. The complexity of this LD blows my mind and I have such a respect for anyone who has dyslexia. Who knows, maybe one day I will pursue this further but for now, I'm just doing my best to educate myself and accommodate my students in the best way I can.
